Levels
The following describes the different levels of yoga classes offered through the Sacramento Yoga Center. To find out more about a particular class, or determine which level is right for you, please contact the instructor offering the course. Each instructor is able to provide you with guidance regarding the appropriate level and preparation for each of their classes.
Level 1
A great place to begin if you have never done yoga. These classes offer an exploration of the most fundamental aspects of yoga. Level 1 emphasizes proper alignment in the asanas (poses), breathing practices, and beginning yoga philosophy. Participants receive a lot of personal attention, clear demonstrations, and easy explanations of everything in the class. This class is suitable for beginners and continuing practitioners, as well as students with specific needs or healing from injuries.
Level 2
Begin here if you have done yoga before, anywhere or anytime. New students may also begin here, joining other students who have been practicing for some time. Our teachers actively assist you with special instruction or adaptations of the poses for your current level of flexibility and strength. This class includes training in yoga breathing and yoga poses, as well as guided relaxation, meditation, and contemplation.
Level 3
An intermediate practice of yoga where we hold poses longer and utilize deeper variations in the poses. This level creates deeper changes in the body and mind, resulting in a deeply meditative experience. It is recommended that you attend at least six months of level 2 classes prior to attending this level of class. Not suitable for beginners.
